Guide for a Student Permit for Canada
With its world-class educational institutions and diverse culture, Canada is a dream destination for many international students. To pursue your academic goals in this vibrant nation, you’ll need a student visa, also known as a study permit. So let’s explore how you can get a student permit for Canada.
Documents Require for Student Permit
- Letter of Acceptance: This official document from a designated learning institution (DLI) confirms your enrollment in a full-time study program.
- Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL): As of January 22, 2024, most applicants require a PAL from the province or territory where they plan to study. Contact the provincial/territorial government for details.
- Valid Passport: Ensure your passport has sufficient validity (usually six months beyond your intended study period) and enough blank pages for visa stamping.
- Proof of Financial Support: Demonstrate your ability to cover tuition fees and living expenses. This can include bank statements, scholarship letters, or financial support letters from sponsors.
- Medical Exam Results: You may need to undergo a medical examination by a panel physician approved by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
- Police Certificates: Depending on your country of origin, you might need police certificates from your home country and any countries you’ve resided in for six months or more in the past five years.
- TwoRecentPassport-Sized Photographs: These photos should meet specific size and format requirements as outlined by IRCC.
- Additional Documents: Depending on your specific situation, additional documents like a study plan, proof of English/French language proficiency, or a letter of explanation for missing documents might be necessary.
Visa Process:
- Gather Required Documents: Ensure you have all the necessary documents mentioned above in complete and proper format.
- Apply Online: Visit the IRCC website and submit your application electronically through the online portal.
